Since the time my mother met my husband when we were dating she has called him "Boy". It's become my family's nickname for him. This weekend he celebrated his 36th birthday. We didn't get much done around the house, but we had a wonderful weekend being a family.
My mother flew in to visit for the long weekend and spent most of the weekend babysitting for us to give L and I some much needed "couple" time. It really was the greatest gift she could have given either of us.
Saturday, L and I spent his birthday golfing at
Currie Park golf course, eating at
Eddie Martini's and watching
The Longest Yard. We had an absolute blast! We were actually so exhausted we were in bed before 10:00PM. Who knew a day without the Who could be so exhausting?
Today L went and played golf with a couple of buddies and my Mom, Who and I had to drive back to the golf course we played yesterday. I had to pick up my cell phone that I had managed to let fall out of the cart yesterday and lost somewhere on the course. We ran over to Home Depot so that I could get a Dremel Tool and orbital sander and then met L back at the house. Then we all took a trip to the park to play on the swings and slide (or at least watch the Who do those things.)

Finally it was time for the Who to take a nap, so Mom, L and she all went home and went to bed. I, on the otherhand, was thrilled to find out that my neighbor M had some left over hastas that her friend had brought over and she didn't have room for. So now my very small plant bed at the back of the house is now planted and hopefully should be filled in with beautiful plants soon.

Once that was done I managed to get the window sashes sanded as well as one side of the door I removed from the office a couple months ago all with 100 grit sand paper. The windows will receive another sanding with 150 grit and then will be ready to prime and put back together. The door, since it will be stained instead of painted, will be sanded two more times (150 & 220 grit) and then I'll be finished with it. (At the rate I'm going...I might complete this job in September

) But seriously, with any luck at all I'm hoping to be ready to stain the door and at the very least reglaze the windows by next weekend. While I was sorting through the photos that my mom took of me doing the tail end of this work I realized why the neighbor kids freaked out on me last week. Dressed like that I look like something out of STAR WARS.
All that work took about 3 hours...which is how long Whohead's nap usually lasts so I got cleaned up and we spent the rest of the day together just hanging out and enjoying each other's company.
