Pesto Paradise

Well the rest of my garden may be leaving something to be desired but my basil plants are marvelous! I friend of ours just loaned us a small food processor so this afternoon I decided to try my hand at pesto sauce. A couple good handfuls of basil leaves, some olive oil, garlic, pine nuts and parmasan cheese and WOW! Think I'll throw some tomatoes and mushrooms on the grill tonight and toss them with some pasta in the pesto sauce for dinner. Hmmm...maybe a little chicken or salmon to go along with it. (Okay, gotta quit talking about it, otherwise it will wind up as and afternoon "snack" instead of dinner )

Well I would love to say that my living room window has new glass and is just waiting to have the final coat of primer added so that it can be rehung tomorrow...but I can't!

The PLAN for the weekend was for me to meet with the contractor who was giving me an estimate on the basement on Saturday and then take a golf lesson. Once that was over I was supposed to go look for replacement glass for the broken pane of glass in the window I was reglazing. What is it they say about "best laid plans"?

Here we go round the mulberry "tree"? I could have sworn that the song went "Here we go round the mulberry bush". Apparently the song author never actually saw the plant. Either that, or I have one hell of a GIANT bush in my back yard.

Another Shopping Spree

I swear I have spent more money in the last two weeks on "stuff" than I have probably spent in the last 5 years. I think after today my credit card is going to have reached it's limit and I'll have to actually start working on the house again as I will be forced to stay there for lack of being able to afford putting gas in my car.

Happy Birthday, Boy!

Since the time my mother met my husband when we were dating she has called him "Boy". It's become my family's nickname for him. This weekend he celebrated his 36th birthday. We didn't get much done around the house, but we had a wonderful weekend being a family.

We have company

In our front yard we have a GIANT paper birch tree. We are unsure if we are going to have to have it removed as one of the two main trunks on the tree seems to have some kind of ailment. At some point in time the POs cut down a third trunk that was part of the tree and nailed a small birdhouse to the top of it. It appeared that they did this right before they sold the house as the birdhouse was brand-new.

Monday update.

I rarely get any home renovation stuff done on the weekend. L travels frequently for work so the weekends are coveted family time. Monday's are good indicators of how the rest of the week will go and though I didn't get a lot done today and I know I have a very busy week ahead, I figure something is better than nothing.

I think I need to find a food bank

Spring does wonderful things to my outlook on home improvement. Watching everything start to recover from months of being frozen wasteland reminds me that even stalling a bit when working on the house doesn't have to mean I've completely fallen off the renovation wagon.
